When the Dateline thing happened I discussed it with quite a few non JW friends and I said that if it became general knowledge here (UK) I thought I would DF myself in a regional paper. Well have I got the guts? I hope so, it might become a trend! I will be away on hols but my husband will video it for me, and I would have to do the dF thing when I got home i think. Why then? a catalyst, but also because I cannot go round to every person I spoke to as a JW and apologize, it might also keep the subject in people's minds, who knows.I have found that if I tell a lot of people I'm going to do something I generally do it.First and foremost though I really hope this TV publicity will help the victims.

How secure are airlines?
by Simon inin an article in the guardian:.
airlines warn of huge delays over blunkett security plan.
it says:the government wants airlines to provide the name, gender and home address of each passenger, together with the number of pieces of luggage they are carrying, before each plane can take off.. .

Here's a silly thing, my MIL and her 80 yr old friend flew EZjet Luton to Aberdabberdeen t'other day and they had to have photo IDs signed by doctors in order to board. 20 odd years ago I flew to N Ireland and had to fill out a form stating I wasn't a terrorist. How does signing bits of paper make any difference? If anyone was up to no good they'd either have fake ID or wouldn't care who knew anyway after the event. The only way it could help is if every check in desk had a list/photo of every possible suspect person on the planet and they could check each one.Might as well walk! More important would be Xrays and searches. Can't do that on trains though and I'm travelling with the kids next week...I'm not saying don't do anything, but logic and common sense should play a bigger part!

Disfellowshipment
by larc inon the subject of disfellowshipping, there is something i don't understand.
many here have told their stories as to what happened to them.
i have to ask this question.

Just a thought that came to me the other day... There is no list of sins/crimes/rules, that when commited unrepentantly are disfellowshipping criteria, in any case it is up to the local JC, so it is a very wishy-washy court anyway. Therefore, how can anyone really know exactly how far across that line they've gone?I was always given the impression DFing was for 'things like fornication, adultery etc'. But it seems much more vague than that, and I never thought it was for disagreeing with the literature, though I did get some funny looks!

I think I fit the description! Don't know the answer for certain, but I believe it's just a few quid each, the cost would not be my arguement, however that's a different matter.

What about Trevor McDonald? ITV news and current affairs presenter, I heard he had been an elder.Wouldn't say he's a favourite of mine though, horribly sycophantic. As for a least favourite, don't quote me, it might have come to nothing, but a couple of years ago I heard Peter William Sutcliffe (The Yorkshire Ripper) was working towards baptism...
